A walk through streets of Chandni Chowk

Image
If you ever want to know what organized chaos looks like, take the metro towards Chandni Chowk. The waves of shoppers, hawkers, and tourists milling about the narrow alleyways crammed with shops, the confused lines of telephone and electricity wires overhead, Chandni Chowk is a study in chaos. Perhaps that is why tourists make it a part of their India pilgrimage; there’s  celebrated street food corners to the whispers of history from every other bend, Chandni Chowk – the oldest neighborhood of Delhi – is a refreshing foil to the concrete jungles of Gurgaon and the well-manicured landscapes of the city center. If Delhi is the kingdom of street food in India, Chandni Chowk is undoubtedly its crown jewel. Whether it’s the kebabs at Karim’s, the chaat and dahi bhalle at Natraj Sweets, the daulat ki chaat at Khemchand Adesh Kumar’s, or the twirly delights at Old Famous Jalebi Wala – the very best of street food, honed to perfection over centuries, awaits you here. Chandni Chowk in Delhi is our go-to place for wedding shopping and street food munching. From bridal collections and shoes to carpets to clothes to lights, Chandni Chowk market sells everything round the year, amid ruins from the 17th century. Chandni Chowk is truly the hub of the latest fashion at the most affordable prices. The speciality of the market lies not only in its affordability but also the modernity of patterns, designs and styles on the dress items. That is not to say that stores offering traditional ethnic Indian textiles and embroideries cannot be found. There are also many accessory shops in this market dealing in precious and semi-precious metals and stones. It is an iconic market in Delhi that is also one of the oldest markets in the country. It may be one of the most crowded places ever you will ever go to. Marked with delicious jalebi shops, Dariba Kalan is where you go to update the jewelry box. Asia’s biggest camera market

Chandni Chowk is a busy street – a complete contrast to open spaces, green lawns, leafy corners and quiet environs of the imposing landmark of Red Fort just next to it. The bustling market area of the street is full of people hurriedly moving from place to place, either buying and selling goods or offering services to people who come there to buy and sell. Camera Market is another thing to look forward to in Chandni Chowk. Not many would know this, but Chandni Chowk also plays host to what is widely acclaimed as Asia’s biggest camera accessories market. It is a nice little adventure to walk into this historical studio, where not much has changed in a fast-changing ethos. Do ensure that you know your camera parts – it’s not impossible to get spurious merchandise here. However, most of the long-standing stores sell the genuine article, at fixed rates. This is wholesale market and most professional photographers come here to buy albums, lenses, filters, tripods, battery and camera

The area is quite crowded and using public transport is a better option to reach there. If you travel by metro, you need to get down at lal quila metro station or at chandni chowk metro station. Once you are out of metro station, take a cycle rickshaw to the paranthe wali gali. Also, It is very close to lal quila. So, if you are planning a trip to lal quila then you should definitely try out the parathnas of the parathe wali gali. The parantha shops at parathe vali gali are famous for its unique paratha preparation style. Unlike we do at homes, the paranthas at chandni chowk are made by frying the paranthas. Moreover, they have really different types of paranthas available. When i first visited, I was awestuc
